The D. E. Stearns Company, the originator of the holiday detector, introduces the Model 10/20 high voltage holiday detector. The Model 10/20 is the product of more than three years of development and two years of testing in the field. The instrument represents the latest in electronics in the industry, with a new design and numerous improvements. This pulsating DC holiday detector with regulated voltage has a range of 800 volts to 35,000 volts, giving complete coverage for coating specifications. The instrument has been ergonomically designed with an angled handle and an open grip design that takes into account different hand and glove sizes. Of the new features, one of the most important is the patent pending safety switch. This trigger system provides greater jobsite safety for both the operator and nearby personnel and is very easy to use. Simply release the trigger, and the instrument instantly turns off. The handle must be held down on the grip to operate the instrument, and the unit is shut down immediately when the handle is released. This feature will increase jobsite safety as an instrument cannot be left energized while unattended. For more information, see the Model 10/20 Product Realease. |

| REGULATED VOLTAGE IS THE REASON WHY! Regulated voltage output allows you to maintain a given inspection voltage regardless of varying pipe diameters, surface moisture or even battery level. The Model 14/20 automatically adjusts its output so the voltage reading remains constant despite the electrical load on the circuit. In this way you can be assured that the voltage selected is the voltage applied! 20 VOLTAGE SELECTIONS FOR MAXIMUM VERSATILITY! The 14/20 provides 20 different voltage settings, from 1,000 volts to 14,000 volts - the best range for any single portable unit. This exclusive features enables you to inspect any pipe coating, from the thinnest fusion bonded epoxies to the thickest hot applied enamels. WORKS IN ANY ENVIRONMENT! Made of indestructible ABS "Cycolac", the Model 14/20 is also watertight and completely sealed against the elements, so it can operate in any locality. The 14/20's battery can be charged in the instrument -- or be removed through a convenient sliding door for easy maintenance. Weighing only 6 1/2 pounds the Model 14/20 is the most lightweight detector on the market and is ideal for all kinds of rugged field use and inclement weather. M/1 Low Voltage
Holiday Detector
The Model M/1
The M-1 is known Worldwide as the best choice for the inspection of thin film coatings (0 to 20 mils). The totally redesigned M-1 now uses six "AA" batteries and advance circuitry to produce 67.5 volts. With onboard calibration verification, the M-1 can be checked in the field with no other test apparatus needed. An LED lights on the front panel when the unit is in calibration and when a holiday is detected. The M-1 comes complete ready go to work right out of the box. Headphones may now be used in noisy environments that drown out the normal audio signal. For more information see, The M-1 Instruction page.

(REPLACED BY MODEL 10/20)
STEARNS HOLDIDAY DETECTORS ARE DESIGNED FOR
ALL TYPES OF COATINGS!
The Stearns holiday detector is a quality control
inspection tool used to electrically locate defects in insulating coatings
applied to metallic or concrete structures. These versatile units can be
used to inspect coatings on pipelines, tanks, pilings or any similar surface.
STEARNS DETECTORS PROVIDE ACTUAL VOLTAGE FOR
WHICH THEY ARE SET!
The solid state capacitor discharge system and
the D C system are practically independent of battery voltage, permitting
the unit to provide the actual voltage indicated on the 10 position switch.
The Stearns Model 20 and Model 20-S detectors
convert low voltage direct current (rechargeable batteries) into high voltage
pulses. Model 10 provides D C voltage. Either voltage, when applied to
the protective coating, will locate defects by the formation of a visible
spark and an audible beeping sound.
PRECISELY REGULATED FOR DRY OR DAMP COATINGS
Stearns detectors are virtually unaffected by
damp coatings. The voltage does not change from early morning to end of
day. Also provides the same voltage automatically on 2" to 48" pipe without
resetting (+/-5%).
